Almost any person related to international cricket, be it in the capacity of an ardent supporter or an ex-player, would vote for at least one of MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli, when asked who their first three picks for an XI would be. However, former Indian cricketer, Yuvraj Singh, had other ideas.
During a recent chat, the Player of the Tournament of the 2011 Cricket World Cup was asked the first three players which came to his mind while forming a curated XI of his own. Yuvraj had only one Indian on the list.
“If you were to pick the first three players who would make an XI, whom would they be?,” enquired the interviewer working.
“Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, and Jasprit Bumrah,” remarked Yuvraj.
Interestingly, Gayle did not anticipate either Dhoni, Rohit, or Virat to fit in the list. Instead, he went along with two of his teammates from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru as well as the pace-bowling spearhead of the Indian squad. Yuvraj played alongside Bumrah as well, with a considerable amount of time being spent with him during his single season with the Mumbai Indians in 2019, Yuvraj’s last in the top league.
