Sunday, May 5, at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, is match 53 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) between the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Sam Curran, the PBKS captain, won the toss and chose to bowl first in this afternoon’s game.
Curran revealed that they were starting this match with the same starting lineup as their previous encounter. He made the decision to chase on this high-altitude terrain since he thought the game’s conditions wouldn’t change greatly.
“We’re heading to the bowls. Try to observe how it behaves and pursue it during the day. We are using the same squad. With the same squad, we’ve enjoyed two excellent victories. It’s about batting, bowling, and fielding effectively; the conditions should be very even throughout,” Curran stated at the toss.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, on the other hand, disclosed that Mitchell Santner has taken Mustafizur Rahman’s spot after the Bangladeshi bowler returned home for national duty. Matheesha Pathirana is still hoping to be in the starting lineup. He also missed the previous game because of a niggle, and it was recently announced that he had returned home to heal from a hamstring ailment.
“Chennai Super Kings pacer Matheesha Pathirana is nursing a hamstring injury and will be returning to Sri Lanka for further recovery,” according to a press release from CSK.
Gaikwad didn’t appear to be concerned at the time, despite having lost 10 of his previous 11 tosses.
“We have just adhered to our procedure and performed minor tasks correctly. We concentrate on ourselves and what we can accomplish well, rather than examining the history of the opponent. Our team has had to be adjusted due to several injuries, flus, and unavoidable adjustments this season. Gaining five games is better than losing ten tosses, in my opinion,” remarked Gaikwad.
