A number of young Indian players were purchased by teams in the IPL Auction 2024, giving them much-needed exposure for their skills.
One of them, Jharkhand’s Robin Minz, was a wicketkeeper and batter, acquired by the Gujarat Titans for an incredible INR 3.6 crore. Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Gujarat expressed interest in purchasing Robin Minz when he was first offered at a base price of INR 20 lakh.
Thanks to GT’s historic signing, Robin Minz is the first tribal cricket player to ever sign with an IPL team. The 21-year-old is from the Gumla district of Jharkhand, and the Mumbai Indians even selected him for an international training camp in the United Kingdom in August 2023.

In an invitational T20 competition held in Odisha earlier this year, Minz—who has not yet made his professional cricket debut—scored an undefeated 73* off 35 balls.
As per News18, he has played for the Jharkhand U19 and Jharkhand U25 squads. The Lucknow Supergiants, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders all extended invitations to the wicketkeeper batter for trials; however, he only showed up for the DC trials, where he was not chosen and, as a result, was not sold in the IPL 2023 auction.
After he finished his tenth year of school, Robin Minz
Minz can bowl left-arm orthodox spin and, like most Indian wicketkeeper hitters, he is an idol of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. After clearing the tenth grade tests, he stopped studying. Minz’s father is a security guard at the Jharkhand airport, having previously served in the army.
Since GT only has three wicketkeepers and only two Indian wicketkeepers, Minz, who was selected by Gujarat, has a strong chance of making his IPL debut in the following season. only than Minz, the only Indian wicketkeeper in the Gujarat squad is Wriddhiman Saha. With 39-year-old Saha not getting any younger, the team will therefore aim to test Minz in the forthcoming season.
