2023 Women's T20 World Cup: Virender Sehwag laments India's elimination

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag expresses his sadness about his country’s loss in the women’s T20 World Cup and compares it to the Men in Blue’s elimination from the 2019 ICC Men’s World Cup. The turn of events and semifinals are uncannily similar.

India Women fought valiantly against Australia Women in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 first semi-final, but they were unable to cross the finish line. India briefly appeared poised to pull off an upset before falling short by only 5 runs to the formidable Ladies in Yellow.

Sehwag compares the heartbreak to having experienced it before.
“In a semifinal, the match winner is run out at the crease. This heartbreak is not new to us. I regret seeing India go. Were dominating the game, but Australia once again showed why they are a v (very) tough team to beat. excellent females “on the microblogging website Twitter, the 44-year-old published a tweet.

The tweet from Virender Sehwag served as a sombre reminder of the parallels between the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup semifinals and the 2019 men’s World Cup semifinals. Both teams’ captains, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Harmanpreet Kaur, were batting at the crease. Both were sporting shirts with the number 7. Both of them were attempting to lead their teams to victory when they were both cruelly eliminated. India lost both games as a result of the run outs of its two captains, which proved to be the crucial moment in the games.
Whether it is in the Women’s or Men’s games, India’s trophy drought in ICC competitions persists unabatedly. Since 2014, both clubs have been forced to finish their seasons by the thinnest of margins, coming perilously close to winning the summit.
