Wasim Jaffer, a former cricketer for India, believes that Shreyas Iyer, a current player for India, would be a “excellent” replacement for seasoned one-drop Test hitter Cheteshwar Pujara. Iyer and Pujara are both on the Indian team competing in the present Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.

Cheteshwar Pujara was also singled out for praise by Jaffer, who noted that the experienced batsman had served as India’s No. 3 batsman for an extended period of time.
