Former India batsman Virender Sehwag lauded the decade-long illustrious career of iconic Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni. During his tenure as captain of the national team and CSK in the IPL, Dhoni has achieved distinction on numerous occasions, capturing nearly every professional title.
On Monday, May 29, the 41-year-old will play against Gujarat Titans, marking his eleventh appearance in an IPL final. Prior to the IPL 2023 final, former cricketer and teammate Sehwag heaped praise on Dhoni, who is widely regarded as arguably the most decorated captain in the sport, and added that he is here to win the trophies.
“MS Dhoni was destined to be a champion. No other commander in India has won as many trophies as this one. 50-over world cup, test championship, IPL, T20 world cup. On Cricbuzz, Sehwag stated, “He’s here to win trophies.”
Manoj Tiwari was destined to serve as a leader.
Former batter Manoj Tiwary, who also participated in the Cricbuzz discussion, emphasized that the captain understands how to mentor new players. He added that Dhoni does not intend to confound the setup and has a firm grasp of how to help his team advance in the lucrative T20 tournament.
“He has had a tremendous impact. In addition to captaincy, he has been mentoring in IPL. He was a natural leader. You can speak to him about any topic, and he will respond. Likewise, he has a profound comprehension of the game. If the bowling is subpar, he has the ability to enhance it. We compare teams, and Tiwary noted that CSK’s bowling lineup is inexperienced, but the remainder have performed well in domestic and junior cricket.
“His inexperience was evident in the early encounters, but look at what he has accomplished with the same attack. He always strives for simplicity. He interprets the situation accurately. God has been somewhat kinder to him than to others. “He must have done something good in a past life for which he is now reaping the benefits,” he continued.
