It would not astonish me if David Warner scored a large number of runs in England. Usman Khawaja

Two days prior to the highly anticipated World Test Championship (WTC) final against India, Usman Khawaja was effusive in his praise for fellow opening partner David Warner. The showdown between the two best Test teams will take place from June 7 to 12 at The Oval in London. This will be India’s second consecutive WTC championship match, while Australia’s first.

Warner has been in poor form of late, and the last time he displayed his exceptional batting ability was in 2022, when he blasted a brilliant double-century in his 100th Test match against South Africa on Christmas Day at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Even during the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India, he performed poorly. The 36-year-old is now attempting to overcome his poor form and demonstrate his genuine talent and experience in the upcoming championship match.

Khawaja stated that he has witnessed Warner’s best batting performance in the nets over the past two days. He also stated that he has a great deal of experience playing with southpaws and would be able to tell if they get along.

“Honestly, this is the best I’ve ever seen Davey Warner bat in the cages; it’s been incredible to witness. It’s as straightforward as the way he’s moving and hitting the ball,” Khawaja explained to cricket.com.au.

“I’ve played a lot of cricket with him, and I’ve batted at the other end to him throughout my career – whether it be Test cricket or state level – and you can just tell when he’s moving well,” he added.

Generally, Warner performs a great deal of shots, and you can see when this occurs: Khawaja
The 36-year-old continued by stating that Warner is an aggressive player who typically plays a great deal of shots, and that this can be observed. In addition, he stated that he would not be astonished if Warner scored a “truckload of runs” in England, as he is capable of doing so.

“He’s an aggressive athlete; he takes a lot of shots in general, and it’s obvious when this occurs. It would not surprise me if he came out and scored a ton of runs here, as that is what Davey is capable of. It appears that whenever his back is against the wall, he scores runs,” he added.
