MS Dhoni leaves a lasting impression not only on spectators, but also on the game’s legends, as the world witnessed after Chennai Super Kings’ final home league game. When legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar received an autograph from CSK captain MS Dhoni on his shirt, the entire cricket community watched with rapt attention.
Cricket fans were ecstatic to see a legend of the game acting like a fan in front of an opponent who was half his age, as they witnessed the unbelievable scenes unfurl on television. From Star Sports Studio, Sunil Gavaskar disclosed the cause for his rash behavior.
Sunil Gavaskar stated, “When I learned that the Chennai Super Kings and MS Dhoni would be taking a lap of honour at Chepauk, I decided to create a memorable moment. I therefore ran towards MSD to obtain his signature. This was his final outing at Chepauk. Obviously, he will have the opportunity to perform here if CSK makes the playoffs. However, I chose to make that moment memorable. Someone in the camera unit possessed a marker pen, to my good fortune. Consequently, I am also grateful to that individual.”
Gavaskar, one of the finest cricketers to ever play the game, praised Dhoni for his gesture and praised the CSK captain for his legacy in Indian cricket as he reflected on the moment hours later.
Gavaskar added with tears in his eyes, “Therefore, I went to Mahi and asked him to sign the jersey I was wearing. It was so kind of him to recognize it. It was a very emotional occasion for me, as this individual has made significant contributions to Indian Cricket.”
Emotionally, Gavaskar continued to describe the two most memorable instances from his cricket career that he would never forget.
I would adore to witness Kapil Dev lifting the 1983 World Cup trophy and MS Dhoni hitting the winning six in the 2011 World Cup final before I die.
