The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the India ‘A’ (Emerging) squad for the ACC Emerging Women’s Asia Cup 2023. The tournament is scheduled to commence in Hong Kong on June 12.
On June 13 at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground, India ‘A’ will begin off their campaign against Hong Kong. Eight teams will compete in the tournament, which will be divided into two divisions. India ‘A’ is a member of group A, which also includes Hong Kong, Thailand ‘A’, and Pakistan ‘A’.
Group B, on the other hand, includes Bangladesh ‘A’, Sri Lanka ‘A’, Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates. The tournament’s championship match will take place on June 21.
Shweta Sherawat of the UP Warriorz will head the emerging India ‘A’ team.
India ‘A’ will compete in three division matches. On June 13, they will face Hong Kong, followed by Thailand ‘A’ on June 15 and Pakistan ‘A’ on June 17. It would be intriguing to see how the team performs in the tournament and if they can win it all.
In announcing the squad, the BCCI named Shweta Sehrawat as the team’s captain and Soumya Tiwari as the vice captain. Notably, Sehrawat represented the UP Warriorz in the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) season. Other athletes on the team include Shreyanka Patil, Kanika Ahuja, and others, to name a few. In addition, the team will be guided by head coach Nooshin Al Khadeer.
Several members of the squad recently participated in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League 2023 (WPL 2023) and delivered a number of standout performances. India ‘A’ would be eager to win the Emerging Women’s Asia Cup under the stewardship of Sehrawat.
