Star Trent Boult, the pacer for the Rajasthan Royals, has been one of the most important players for the inaugural champions ever since he was acquired for INR 8 crore at the IPL 2022 auctions. Boult has been a formidable opponent over the years, as he is renowned for providing his team with early wickets in the powerplay.
The 33-year-old took 16 wickets in 16 matches during the IPL 2022, and he has followed that up with another sensational season in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Boult has taken 10 wickets after participating in eight games of the competition.
In a recent interview, the star pacer selected the dismissal of Virat Kohli for a golden duck in the 32nd game of the tournament on April 23 as his favorite first-over wicket from the IPL 2023.
“My kids had just arrived here. I had 99 [IPL] wickets, the temperature was around 700 degrees, and I was bowling to the tournament’s most formidable opening duo. It was fairly cool to hit Virat’s knee with the first ball. Usually, I don’t pay it a lot of attention, but I gave the family in the hospitality area a big cheer when they heard the news. Boult was quoted by ESPNcricinfo as saying, “I recall waking up around 4:00 a.m. that morning because my children had jet lag.”
“I said to the boys, ‘Come on, you need to go to sleep.'” Daddy’s got a huge game today. I am competing against one of the world’s finest batters. My eldest son inquired, “Are you going to release him?” I responded, “Unlikely, and I actually succeeded! “I could not believe it,” he continued.
The Rajasthan Royals were defeated by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by Aiden Markram, in their most recent match without Boult. On Thursday, May 11, they will travel to the Eden Gardens to face the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 56th match of the tournament.
