Preview

On Wednesday, October 25, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Australia and the Netherlands AUS vs NED will compete in the 24th match of the Cricket World Cup. Australia is now in fourth place after having won two games and lost two others. The Netherlands are in third-last place with one victory out of four games after defeating South Africa to open their account.

Australia enjoyed a strong run with the bat against Pakistan in their most recent match. They amassed 367 runs in 50 overs while losing nine wickets. Before Marsh died after reaching 121 runs off 108 deliveries, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh had a partnership for the first wicket of 259 runs. After the first wicket was taken, Australia lost its way, and no other batter could match the performance of the opening pair. After aiding Australia in scoring 300 runs, Warner collapsed. His strike rate was 131.45 while he scored 163 runs. Marcus Stoinis, who scored 21 runs off 24 deliveries, was Australia’s third-highest scorer.

It took the bowlers some time to break the initial partnership. After that, though, Pakistani hitters were unable to seize the initiative. Since the middle order was never a factor, Pakistan was bowled out for 305 runs in 45.3 overs.

Having won the toss, the Netherlands decided to bat against Sri Lanka in their final match. They dropped their first six wickets for only 91 runs, and it appeared as though they may be dismissed for a pitiful total. Logan van Beek and Sybrand Engelbrecht, however, had other ideas. They scored 130 runs together as the team’s seventh wicket, advancing the total to 200. Van Beek made 59 runs off 75 deliveries, compared to 70 runs for Engelbrecht from 82. They performed acts of bravery that enabled the Netherlands to score 262 runs.

The Dutch bowlers had a mediocre day on the field and were unable to pose a significant danger to the Sri Lankan batters. Within the first 10 overs, Sri Lanka did lost two wickets. However, they quickly passed the Netherlands’ total in 48.2 overs with 5 wickets in hand.

Prior to the start of the tournament, Australia and the Netherlands played a warm-up match. Australia could only score 166 runs for the loss of seven wickets when the game was truncated to 23 overs due to rain. Before the game was abandoned owing to rain, the Netherlands scored 84 runs for the loss of six wickets in 14.2 overs.
