In a game that had to be won for the Kolkata Knight Riders against the Rajasthan Royals, the home team was humiliated by the visitors, who reached the 150-run goal in just 13.1 overs thanks to a magnificent performance from Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, elected to put the Kolkata Knight Riders in to bat first. This didn’t go well for the KKR team, as both of their openers were easily dismissed thanks to some outstanding catching by Shimron Hetmyer and Sandeep Sharma.
Venkatesh Iyer led KKR in scoring with a calculated 42-ball 57. Iyer and Nitish Rana came together to stitch a partnership and also steady the ship when KKR was reeling at 29/2 at one point. However, the southpaw was extremely slow at the start of his innings. Despite finishing with a half-century, KKR’s total was below average as a result of his sluggish start.
Aakash Chopra, a renowned pundit, highlighted Iyer’s efforts by adding that Venkatesh’s sluggish start to his innings had an impact on the final score. Chopra clarified this information in a video that was uploaded to YouTube by saying
“Venkatesh Iyer made runs after that without a doubt, but his start was incredibly slow. Kolkata should have enjoyed the pitch because it was sluggish and turning a little because it was a normal pitch, but they didn’t because they didn’t score enough runs.
Chahal is currently the Indian Premier League’s top wicket-taker.
The former Indian opener hailed Yuzvendra Chahal of Rajasthan for his tenacious and superb bowling performance. After his feats against KKR, the star Indian leg spinner surpassed all other wicket-takers in IPL history. The former cricketer turned broadcaster praised Chahal and remarked,
“Ashwin still had no wickets. Off-spinner Joe Root didn’t grab a wicket either despite bowling it. Yet again, Yuzi Chahal: chatur chalak chanchal Chahal. He is quite smart. Despite having a somewhat sluggish start, he already has the most wickets in this IPL 202 tournament.
