Former India opener Aakash Chopra believes Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli could not have done more to help his team qualify for the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs. In their final league-stage match, RCB were eliminated from the IPL 2023 after suffering a devastating loss to the defending champions Gujarat Titans.
Individually, Kohli had an outstanding season in 2015, scoring 639 runs in 14 games, including six half-centuries and two back-to-back centuries in must-win games. On several occasions this season, he received criticism for his strikeout rate, however.
In the meantime, Chopra stated that Kohli’s performances this season cannot be questioned given that he scored eight fifty-plus runs and two centuries. He went on to state that 2023 is the best season for Kohli since 2016, and that the batter left no stone unturned to help his team qualify.
“Virat Kohli had his second-best season after 2016 with eight scores of fifty-plus and two centuries.” Some individuals will continue to criticize Kohli, but I believe he did everything possible to assist RCB win. “He left no stone unturned, but unfortunately it was not enough,” Chopra stated on his YouTube channel.
Faf du Plessis had a tremendously successful season: Chopra Akash
Former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman also praised Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis, stating he had an exceptional season. Su Plessis did everything he could to assist his team win the championship, according to the 45-year-old. Notably, the Proteas batsman leads the IPL 2023 Orange Cap rankings with 730 runs in 14 innings at an average of 56.15 and a strike rate of 153.0.
“Faf du Plessis had a truly remarkable season. In addition to 730 runs and eight fifties, the remaining six scores were not low. He did everything within his means to assist his team in winning the championship. “However, it never transpired,” the former cricketer continued.
